Some actresses land a single role and are known for it the rest of their lives.

So how do you describe Karen Black, who added life to movies as different as Easy Rider with Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper, Five Easy Pieces?and again with Nicholson?and The Great Gatsby with Robert Redford, as well as Robert Altman?s Nashville and Alfred Hitchcock?s Family Plot?

In the 1970s, Karen Black was someone that top actors and directors all wanted in their movies. She became ubiquitous without becoming unwelcome.

Watch those movies and you know that Karen Black will always be ageless on screen and in our mind?s eye.

And she?s still quite busy today, having become a regular player in writer and director Henry Jaglom?s company of actors. She was in his films Irene in Time and Hollywood Dreams, starring Tanna Frederick, and this week joined Frederick in the production of Jaglom?s new play, ?Just 45 Minutes from Broadway,? at the Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica, California. The play has been extended through July 31, 2010; you can order tickets online at edgemarcenter.org or call (310) 392-7327.
